Leonard Gray and Elwell Taylor battle it out at 8-ball

In what we hope is the first of many to come, representatives from Leonard Gray and surveyors Elwell Taylor put their cueing skills to the test in a friendly tournament at a local pool hall in Chelmsford on 27 March 2014. A total of 12 players competed, each doing their level best to emulate Paul Newman’s “Fast Eddie” Felson from the 1961 flick, The Hustler. In a tense final, Matt Turner, Senior Associate at Elwell Taylor took on our very own Andy Hunt, Branch Manager of Leonard Gray Estate Agents.  The match was shaded by Andy, who lifted the Championship Trophy for this maiden competition.

John Appleby, one of Leonard Gray’s partners, said of the event, “It was a pleasure to get together with Elwell Taylor, a firm with which a number of us here work very closely, for a variety of key, mutual clients.”

John also remarked that he exited the tournament with his head held high, having been knocked out by the eventual runner-up.  A rematch is apparently due very soon.
