Age UK Essex Wills Week Success
In October we teamed up with local charity, Age UK Essex, in a Wills Week offering advice and Will writing for clients in return for a charity donation, raising an amazing £2,310 for Age UK Essex.
With over two thirds of people in the UK not even having a Will, the Wills Week was the perfect platform to raise awareness about the benefits of having a Will as well as raising much needed funds for the local charity.
We have chosen Age UK Essex as our charity of the year, with the population of Essex is growing older every day the charity is under increasing pressure to meet a growing demand for its services. Age UK Essex supports over 40,000 people each year and tries to raise the £400,000 needed each year to keep services such as Befriending and the Advice teams accessible to anyone who needs them.
Jean Robinson Fundraising Manager for the charity says “We have been thrilled to work alongside Leonard Gray who have supported us in such a positive way. With many people perceiving that we are nationally funded which is not the case, raising £2,310 was such a wonderful surprise and will go towards our Befriending services that help to support those suffering the harmful effects of loneliness.”
Chris Kelly, a partner of Leonard Gray and a Trustee for Age UK Essex says “This was a great opportunity for us as a firm to provide some much needed funds to the charity. We prepared Wills for around 40 clients in the space of a week with all donations being passed to the charity. It was just a matter of our time and resources being used and we consider this was a very worthwhile use of both. We are looking forward to doing this again in 2015.”
Age UK Essex is a brand partner of national charity Age UK. Many of the services offered are reliant on fundraising and donations, including befriending, advice and information, which help to meet the challenges of later life, reducing the daily impact of loneliness, dementia and the effects that later life can bring.
